Category:Statistical software Category:Statistical software for WindowsVarious means of providing an electrochemical cell, such as a sodium/sulfur battery, are known. For example, it has been suggested to coat the negative electrode with a resistive material such as lead or lead dioxide. See, for example, J. Ham, et al., “Sodium/Sulfur Batteries: Power Sources for Future”, Proceedings of the First International Symposium on Sodium Batteries, Padova, Italy, June 1995. Batteries using a resistive material as the negative electrode are also shown in U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,711,729; 4,833,048; 4,988,561; 5,096,667; 5,264,369; and 5,338,625. U.S. Pat. No. 5,569,476 discloses a cell comprising a porous negative electrode containing an amorphous carbon material and a pore-forming agent and a porous positive electrode containing a metallic alkali. U.S. Pat. No. 5,880,402 discloses an electrochemical cell comprising a metal current collector, a sulfur-containing metal-sulfide-containing negative active material, a pore forming agent, a polysulfide electrolyte, and a current-conducting filler material. U.S. Pat. No. 5,763,959 discloses a particular choice of sulfur-containing, alkali metal-containing positive electrode material. As noted therein, the electrode material of the invention contains at least about 0.3% sulfur by weight, but no more than about 3.0% sulfur by weight. In particular embodiments of the invention, there is provided a battery electrode comprising a polymeric binder, a carbon substrate, sulfur particles, and a potassium compound. The electrode preferably contains from about 0.3% to about 3.0% by weight of sulfur. U.S. Pat. No. 5,753,410 discloses a polyanion electrolyte for a sodium/sulfur cell. The electrolyte comprises an alkali metal polysulfide and a heteropolyacid having a plurality of negatively charged oxygen atoms. Sulfur-containing materials which are relatively insoluble (e.g., greater than 0.5% by weight insoluble in 100 ml of 1.1M hydrochloric acid at room temperature) are difficult to
